Many would have noticed that fast rising singer and Maradona crooner Niniola has a set of broken tooth. NAIJ.com can tell you that this happened when the future was still very bleak and she was yet to know what will become of her in future. The then young Niniola, who was just a JSS 2 student, was oblivious of a singing career that will later launch her to stardom. Speaking on how it all happened during her album listening party recently, the Maradona singer said:
“I chipped my tooth when I was in JSS2. I remember it was in the house and my elder brother was playing with my cousin and he was pouring water on her. He said he also wanted to pour water on me so while I was running away from him, screaming with my mouth wide open, I fell down and saw my chipped tooth on the floor. It was on a Sunday and I had to go to school the next day. I wanted to kill myself because I did not know how I would face my school mates the next day.” How was she able to deal with her classmates in school the following day? Fate had placed one of her classmates in her house before the accident so it was easier to break the news and explain how it all happened.
She said: “Coincidentally, there was a school mate of mine in the house who had come to see my cousin, so she explained everything that happened. I had planned that the next day I would not talk so much in school but to my surprise when I got to school, everybody was talking about my chipped tooth; that girl had gone to spread the news. I was embarrassed and it took me a while to get used to it. My mother even told me to get it fixed but I refused and I told her I wasn’t ready.” She said she was initially ashamed to smile after the accident but not again as Niniola is widely known for her wide smile.
Earlier on, NAIJ.com had reported that Niniola said talent alone cannot make an artiste a success in the Nigerian music industry. She disclosed that for an artiste to make a mark in the music industry, he/she must invest money as much as talent in the craft. Born Niniola Apata but popularly known by her stage name Niniola, the Maradona singer is a singer and songwriter who became known in 2013 after emerging third runner-up of the sixth season of Project Fame West Africa.
